Kindergarten Unit

The youngest children in the nursery are cared for in the kindergarten unit where they remain until around their second birthday.

All of our kindergarten staff are totally devoted to the babies in their care.  They are patient and loving and vocational about the care of babies and younger children.  We always operate in excess of the required staffing ratio of three children to one member of staff and close supervision of the babies is maintained at all times.

Children of this age need familiar faces, carers who know them well as individuals, working in partnership with their parents/carers.  Consistency of care for all children in the nursery is very important, but it is absolutely essential with the youngest children.

The key person system allows the children to build special, loving and secure relationships with staff, resulting in babies who feel loved, relaxed and free to explore and learn in a safe and stimulating environment.  Babies settle in to the warm, homely environment of our kindergarten units quickly and happily, using their own comforters and family books.

The kindergarten unit is divided into various ages and stages of development.  We use the government framework (EYFS) as a guideline throughout the nursery day to ensure they have a stimulating and nurturing environment to explore, learn, develop and grow.
