Tottington Nursery School - Newsletter February 2010

 

Welcome

We would like to welcome all new parents to the nursery. We hope your children enjoy their time with us.  Please let any member of staff or management know if you have any questions or comments at any time.

We would like to say thank you for all the generous presents that were brought in at Christmas. Other than those labelled for specific staff members, they were shared equally among all of the staff.

LEA Grant
The Pre-school children aged three and upwards are eligible for a government grant in the term after their third birthday. It was organised by the nursery and just required your signature on a form. Everyone who is entitled to the grant in the Spring Term will pay reduced fees for 11 weeks from week commencing Monday 4th January 2010.

Walshaw nursery expansion
You may have seen a photograph of the new modular building being craned into position in the Bury Times. The building is now ready and has increased the size of the nursery.

Puffin Book Club

We routinely give out a catalogue for the Puffin Book Club. For every pound that parents spend, we receive a pound voucher to spend on books for the nursery. Since we introduced this scheme we have been able to supplement our already well stocked book areas. Please take a minute to have a look through the catalogue to see if there’s anything you would like to buy. Simply choose the book(s) you would like, complete the order form on the back page and return it to the nursery office with a cheque made payable to ‘Puffin Book Club’ or just complete your bank card details on the form.

 

Nativity play collection
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the collection at the end of the Pre-school Nativity play. An impressive £223.56 was raised and donated to ‘The Mustard Tree’. This is a Manchester based charity that helps care for the homeless.

Family books
You may have already received a slip from the staff explaining that we would like you to bring in a photograph of your child’s immediate family so we can make a Family book for every child in the nursery.

 

Pre-school

We have swopped the pre-school wet room with the room our teacher, Pam used to use. This move has given Pam more room to teach and has made it easier for the children to access the messy play items such as sand, water and paint throughout the day.

 

Reminders

  • Please check your child’s pigeon hole regularly. The children can quickly build up a portfolio of work!
  • Please ensure your child has a warm outdoor coat, hat, gloves and scarf. Unless it is raining heavily, the children play outside everyday.
  • Please ring the nursery if your child is not attending so we can provide the cook with accurate figures for lunch.
  • Please be aware of the nursery policy that states mobile telephones should not be used in the nursery.
  • Please do not leave plastic carrier bags on your child’s coat hook, they are potentially very dangerous.
  • Please supervise older siblings when you drop off or collect.
  • Please use the suggestions and observations box at the entrance of each building.
  • The Toddler and Pre-school children have a home diary inside their child’s library book folder. You can add a comment about any exciting news you have, what you did at weekend or just about the book they have read.
  • Whenever possible please try to avoid parking on the pavement on the opposite side of Kirklees Street. Several passers by have complained to the nursery and the traffic warden occasionally patrols the street.
