Mulberry Bush Nursery, Walshaw – Parents Newsletter February 2010
Welcome
We would like to welcome all new parents to the nursery. We hope your children enjoy their time with us. Please let any member of staff or management know if you have any questions or comments at any time.
Building work
The new building is now finished and the Pre-school and the older Toddler children have moved across into their new play rooms. Work has started on converting the old Pre-school room into two rooms for the Kindergarten children. We hope to have these new rooms ready for the start of March. The outdoor play area is taking shape and should also be ready for the start of March. The outline plans for this project are displayed in the new building.
Early and Late sessions
The nursery operates an early session from 7.30am and a late session until 6.00pm. These sessions are based in the main building, even if your child normally attends nursery in the new building. Routinely these sessions are in the Kindergarten unit but while the renovation work is taking place for the next couple of weeks, they will be held in the Toddler unit in the main building.
Thank you
We would like to say thank you for all the generous presents that were brought in at Christmas. Other than those labelled for specific staff members, they were shared equally among all of the staff.
Puffin Book Club
We routinely give out a catalogue for the Puffin Book Club. For every pound that parents spend, we receive a pound voucher to spend on books for the nursery. Since we introduced this scheme we have been able to supplement our already well stocked book areas. Please take a minute to have a look through the catalogue to see if there is anything you would like. Simply choose the book(s) you would like, complete the order form on the back page and return it to the nursery office with a cheque made payable to ‘Puffin Book Club’ or just complete your bank card details on the form.
Song of the month: Ten Little Fingers
I’ve got ten little fingers and they all belong to me,
I can make them do things,
Would you like to see,
I can shut them up tight,
I can open them wide,
I can put them together,
And make them all hide,
I can make them jump high,
I can make them jump low
I can put them all together and hold them all just so.
Vacancies
When the renovations to the Kindergarten unit are completed the nursery will have a number of vacancies in each unit. If you would like to increase your child’s attendance, swop days or to start a younger sibling please speak to the office as soon as possible. There has been lots of interest in the nursery recently with a number of viewings and new children being booked in.
LEA Grant
All of the Pre-school children aged three and upwards are eligible for a government grant in the term after their third birthday. It was organised by the nursery and just required your signature on a form. Everyone who is entitled to the grant in the Spring Term will pay reduced fees for a period of 11 weeks from week commencing Monday 4th January 2010.
